I
have recently announced my candidacy for the 2004 Republican nomination
for Ohio’s House of Representatives, 66th District.
The 66th district is comprised of Miami, Goshen, Union
and Batavia Townships,
the Villages of Amelia and Batavia along with parts of the Cities of
Milford and Loveland. This seat is currently held by Rep. Jean
Schmidt who will be running for Ohio’s
14th Senate District.
I
have been a Miami Township Trustee for the past 13 years in addition to
being the Administrator
for the Clermont County Engineer’s Office for the past 10 years.
I hold a bachelors degree in Public Administration
as well as being an Ohio Certified Public Manager.
I
am a life-long resident of Miami Township.
I live in the house I grew up in with my wife Patti of 28 years.
We have four children. Lieutenant
Christopher J. Uecker, a 2003 graduate of the USAF Academy, is currently
serving as a pilot in the US Air Force. Julie
is a senior pharmacy student on an academic scholarship at Ohio Northern
University in Ada, Ohio.
Daniel is a sophomore business college student at the University
of Cincinnati.
Timothy is an 8th grade student at St. Columban School
in Loveland.
A
15-year veteran police officer- turned- public administrator, I know all
too well the importance of safety and security of a community.
I understand the cause and effects of having tough and
enforceable laws on the books. I
even wrote a law that was introduced by former State Representative, the
late Rep. Sam Bateman, and later adopted, that kept work related
auto accidents of safety-service and highway maintenance personnel from
being used to increase their personal insurance rates.
The
issue that has to be faced immediately is to correct, and then heal, the
climate in Ohio that continues to chase away businesses that provide
jobs and help relieve the individual tax burden.
We need to ensure that our citizens feel safe and secure in their
own homes through tough and enforceable criminal laws is paramount.
Certainly not the least of issues is the vigilant protection of our
constitutional rights and the rights of those not able to protect and
secure for themselves.
I
ask for you support, guidance, and prayers.
God
Bless,
Joe
