In a mixed bags of
decisions, Clermont County Republican Party Executive
Committee members voted Jan. 14 to recommend endorsements
in some contested races on the March 2 primary ballot -
and not in others.
The entire Republican
Central Committee is set to meet Wednesday, Jan. 21, to
vote on the recommendations of the executive committee,
said Tim Rudd, party chair. The central committee will
make the final decision on whether to endorse and then who
to endorse, if necessary.
In the race for the 66th
District Ohio House of Representatives seat, executive
committee members voted 5-1 to endorse in the race and 5-1
to recommend Joe Uecker, Rudd said. The other candidates
are Donovan Donohoo, Carl Dorsch, Jeff Hardin and Mark
Daniels.
In the race for the 88th
District Ohio House of Representatives seat, the executive
committee voted 6-4 not to endorse any candidate, Rudd
said. The candidates are Harry Cooper Snyder, Curt Hartman
and Danny Bubp.
In the state senate race,
the committee members voted 11-5 to recommend endorsement,
Rudd said. Then, members voted 12-4 to recommend the
endorsement go to Schmidt. Thomas Niehaus is the other
candidate in this race. He is the representative from the
88th District.
For county coroner,
executive committee members voted unanimously to endorse
and recommended Dr. Brian Treon, Rudd said. The other
candidate is Dr. Raymond Davidson.
A majority of the executive
committee also voted unanimously to recommend incumbent
Carolyn Green in the county recorder's race.
Committee members voted to
endorse in those county office races where the incumbent
candidates are running unopposed: Prosecutor Donald White,
Commissioner Bob Proud, Commissioner Mary Walker,
Treasurer Robert True, Sheriff A. J. "Tim"
Rodenberg, Judge Michael Voris, Rudd said.
Barb Wiedenbein, who is
running unopposed in the race for Common Pleas Clerk of
Courts, also received a recommendation for endorsement,
Rudd said.
Twelfth District Court of
Appeals Judge William Young received a similar nod, Rudd
said, as did national candidates, like George W. Bush for
president.
Committee members chose to
recommendation not to endorse in the race for state
central committee man, he said. The candidates are Danny
Bare, John Becker, Willie Herdman, Robert Ruggles and Kay
Reynolds.
