State Representatives Danny Bubp and Joseph Uecker Announce Yellow Ribbon Day

COLUMBUS – State Representative Danny Bubp (R-West Union) and state Representative Joseph Uecker ( R-Miami Township ) this week announced the adoption of a resolution to designate April 9, 2006 as Yellow Ribbon Day.

“It is important that we recognize Yellow Ribbon Day to honor the servicemen and women of our state who have made countless sacrifices for our country,” Representative Bubp said.

On April 9, 2004, Sergeant Matt Maupin was captured by insurgents in Iraq . Sadly, Sergeant Maupin’s whereabouts are still unknown. By designating April 9, 2006, the two-year anniversary of the capture of Sergeant Maupin, as Yellow Ribbon Day the southern Ohio legislators hope to honor the service of and sacrifices made by Ohio’s sons and daughters in the United States armed forces.

“Sergeant Matt Maupin chose to defend our country so that we may live in freedom,” Uecker said. “Yellow Ribbon Day will honor not only his service but the service of all of Ohio ’s sons and daughters in the United States armed forces.”

Ohio now joins several other states in honoring and implementing a Yellow Ribbon Day.
